More dim security guards hassling photographers in Birmingham

“…I was approached by a pair of security guards who asked if I had a license to be photographing there. […] Having already managed to get the shot I was after I left and moved onto the Mailbox, where I had the same experience. This time the security guard was unsure as to why photgraphy was not permitted in the canal area, only that management had instructed him not to allow photography with “SLR-type camera s”.”

“Management” obviously has no idea the sort of pictures that a Sigma DP1, or any other compact digicam + PTGui, can acquire.

3D photo-realism in Google Earth is going to give them nightmares…

Not that Birmingham is in danger of looking anything like New York (seen above), in Google Earth or otherwise, any time soon. We’re still stuck in the stone-age, with just eight primitively-textured 3D models in the city-centre…
