An interesting snippet from the Guardian blogs

“No one seems to have mentioned that some of the uplifts [ in funding ] trumpeted by the Arts Council come with strings attached – in particular, that companies will no longer be able to apply for [ Lottery ] Grants for the Arts.”

In addition, Grants for the Arts gets cut in total terms from May 08, down by 7.4%. This is compounded for visual artists because the Exhibition Payment Right (paying between £250-£1000 for a solo show) ceased in 2003/4 and the Arts Council rarely funds solo shows now.
