Massive hole in the wall

Filed under: Artist(s), Birmingham, Photographers, Regeneration — site admin @ in the early morning

Walsall’s Chu — who I was lucky enough to work with several times before he went off for a sojourn in London — offers the world a free hi-res printable copy of his magnificent world-record attempt “Hole In The Wall” site-specific painting. The image weighs in at 1.8Mb, 6500 x 2800 pixels…

It’s ’sunk into and rising from’ the site of an arson-hit Walsall fabric factory called ‘Hole In The Wall’. The fire burned for days. The work took him four months, and he finished it just before the bad weather set in at the end of summer 07. Among other things, it features “the long-lost buildings of a Black Country town”. Make sure you dust off your red-and-blue 3D glasses, to see if you can get the full 3D-effect from parts of the work. The work also has its own Flickr group.
