The British Library has placed the Oral History of British Photography online, for free to those in higher education (via Athens). It looks like it might be complete; it had 170 recordings the last time I heard of it. The site currently offers audio files only, with very few searchable transcriptions yet, and no user annotations or tagging of files is allowed (so volunteers can’t transcribe and post juicy snippets from the interviews on the site, or provide a ‘table of contents’ for each recording). Let’s hope a ‘Google Speech’ launches soon, offering keyword-searching inside spoken-word audio files.
