BOHO Britain:
Creative industries guru Richard Florida is in London at the end of May, for BOHO Britain; a major DEMOS conference on the links between a thriving ‘creative scene’ and the re-making of our cities. The conference graphic shows trendy young tweens; but it’s worth remembering that the baby-boomer hippy/punk ‘old folks’ of the 2010s are not going to be the same cautious war-time/1950s ‘old folks’ we’ve known in the past few decades. They will be a big part of the hyper-creative core of the new creative class, perhaps more so (because of relatively easy access to skills & financial capital) than the rapidly shrinking number of under-35s.
