Schmooze news:
A good Schmooze tonight (click for big pic) in Birmingham at the Sunflower Lounge, with a turn-out of about 80 local creatives, nattering away nine-to-the-dozen. Many thanks to Anne-marie and Sorelle for organising the Schmooze events. Some news that was Schmoozed….

There’s a upcoming User-Lab Seminar at BIAD, Birmingham, on Designing the user experience – Microsoft – British Airways. Wednesday 20th November 2002, 2-5pm. £30.

The Breathe Film Festival – Spirituality & Film takes place in Birmingham from 21st – 23rd November 2002. And it’s free.

Fused magazine is still going strong and they have a new web-site, with a survey they would like Midlands creatives to fill in.

Grow Your Own Media Lab takes place in The Big Peg, Hockley, Birmingham, on 25th November – 20th December 2002. On 4th December there’s a lunchtime workshop in morphing for the web, followed by a workshop in doctoring photos of urban environments so they show “virtual graffiti”. On 14th December there’s also a workshop on setting up a Linux box, followed by one on setting up a community web-site.

Birmingham’s Custard Factory are offering 100 offices in the new £6m Greenhouse new-media producer’s cluster at just £100 a week all-in, with £100 worth of free leased-line bandwidth. Not a bad deal, it seems, and it’s time-limited. Call Dave on 0121 693 4816 for details.

Font Aid:
Font Aid II, a custom glyphs font from the world’s top font designers. The $10 it costs (as careware) goes to victims of the September 11th attacks. And talking of fonts, have a look at the lovely new Tisdall Script, which pays homage to those wonderful calligraphic book-jacket designs of the 1950s.
