Iain McKell’s photo-documentary series The New Gypsies, documenting the New Age travellers and Peace Convoy -types who’ve survived on the roads of the British Isles since the early 1980s, and the others who have since joined them. He’s deliberately photographed them using the neo-romantic fashion magazine aesthetic.

There’s a photobook available (80 pictures), and a show of the work at the London College of Fashion until 4th June 2011 (other sources say until 28th May 2011).

Note that the book’s blurb seems historically misleading, stating that… “the movement began in 1986”. But the Peace Convoy began in 1982, and the famous Battle Of The Beanfield was in 1985.
