A long article in The Guardian on Brian Griffin’s staged Black Country series of pictures, now on show at New Art Gallery Walsall (albeit with annoying high-reflectivity glass in the picture frames). The Guardian has an online picture gallery. Griffin will be giving a talk on the pictures on 2nd June 2011.

I was particularly enamoured of the racing portrait (which is part of a triptych) — since my grandfather raced twice in the Isle of Man TT races, my great-grandfather participated in competitive cycle-racing in Wolverhampton, and my family became motorcycle manufacturers in Birmingham…
