My copy of the newly-published England in Particular arrived today. By DHL courier. From Amazon UK. So why have Amazon suddenly started using couriers for domestic deliveries? Couriers are meant for businesses, who employ a receptionist to take in deliveries. Not for homes where people are out and about during office hours. DHL try to deliver once, then it’s “you’ll have to collect it from a remote depot that’s miles away on a bleak industrial estate”. Let’s hope this is just a temporary blip, and not a permanent shift in Amazon’s delivery policy. Anyone know different? [Update: no reply from Amazon UK‘s press office.  Maybe they don’t ‘do’ weblogs.]
