Just released, a short market report on podcasting, The Podcast Value Chain: An Overview of the Emerging Podcasting Marketplace. (PDF, 220kb). Predictably, the report sees erotica audio files as an area that has potential to, erm, ‘firm up’ – 11.3% of visitors are looking for it, but it’s currently just 0.8% of all available podcast content (based on a sample of 1,800 items). The report doesn’t mention the ubiquitous mobile phone, and what happens when affordable models start to function as a simple MP3 player. That rumble of thunder you just heard?
